Our need to belong exceeds our need to be moral.
Morality: principles concerning the distinction between right and wrong or good and bad behavior.
Belonging: an affinity for a place, person, group or situation.
Put in an easy to digest way: people want acceptance so badly they will abandon their stance as quickly as they do their sensibility. They will do most anything for someone – even a degenerate waste of creation – just to say, “I’m in! Those are my friends over there.”
Pitiful.
